It is easy to find colleges and universities on SchoolsGalore.com. Students and parents will find an excellent selection of graduate and undergraduate degree programs, as well as a number of important professional certifications to consider.

Certificate and College Degree Options

Certificate Programs: Some students who are just beginning a postsecondary education may choose to enter certificate programs which can last a few weeks or months, and can quickly prepare you for entering the workforce; however, most beginners start out by enrolling in undergraduate degree programs, which would include Associate's and Bachelor's degrees.

Undergraduate Degrees

Associate's Degrees: Associate of Arts (AA) or Associate of Science (AS) degrees are considered the first step in a true college education, and typically take about two years to complete. Associate courses have two purposes: either as a "terminal" degree for completion of vocational training, or as a "transfer" degree that completes the first two years of a Bachelor degree program. Be wise in your choice of Associate degree programs, especially if you plan to continue your studies to a higher level. Be sure to choose a degree program that may help you reach your ultimate goal.

Bachelor's Degrees: Once the Associate degree is completed, the student is qualified to enroll in Bachelor degree programs. It takes about two years of additional study to get a Bachelor's degree. Earning a Bachelor of Arts (BA) or Bachelor of Science (BS) can be an exciting experience, as classes become more concentrated and studies are focused directly on a specific professional field. With a BA or BS, graduates are qualified for any number of occupations in business, health care, education, criminal justice, computer technology, social services, marketing and sales, and many more. Additionally, a Bachelor's degree is usually a necessary prerequisite for entering into a graduate degree program.

Graduate Degrees

A Graduate Degree is considered the pinnacle of a college education, and these would include Master's degrees and Doctorate degrees. Grad degrees offered at the colleges and universities are often sought by those who wish to perform scholarly research, become a medical professional, or enter the teaching profession.

Master's Degrees: A Master's degree (MA, MS, MBA, etc.) usually takes about two or three more years of full-time study beyond the Bachelor's, but the personal and professional rewards can be amazing. Imagine how exciting it would be to immerse yourself in a concentrated major that is of particular interest to you! You will interact with professors and like-minded people in an academic environment where you can learn to be a respected "master" in your chosen field.

Doctorate's Degrees: The most ambitious of graduates may opt to enter into Doctorate degree programs. There is no higher degree than the Doctoral, and those who achieve it are permitted to use the professional title of "Doctor." There are many titles available, but probably the best-known is the Doctor of Philosophy, or PhD. The time it takes to complete a Doctor's degree can vary from three to five years, depending on the depth of undergraduate preparation and the individual students' experience in the field of study. Most Doctor's degree programs will require a doctoral thesis or dissertation to achieve a diploma, and many also require an internship or residency of a few additional years beyond academic studies.
