Hypnotherapy Explained
As an alternative health treatment, hypnotherapy is an application used to relieve pain or symptoms in relation to an individual's mental state. The common belief is that once a client crosses the threshold into a trance-like state, he or she becomes more open to the power of suggestion.
During the 1800s, several well-known healers actually used a form of hypnosis in their treatments, but later it became apparent that the treatments that were used then are what we today call "hypnosis." While many researchers have studied the field of hypnotherapy, the closest and more up-to-date version of the discipline is Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP).
Some methods that are often used in hypnotherapy include age regression, revivification, guided imagery, parts therapy, confusion, repetition, direct suggestion, indirect suggestion, mental state, hypnoanalysis, post hypnotic suggestion, binds, and visualization techniques.
