Chiropractic Colleges

Students may choose to gain a comprehensive chiropractic education in traditional medical schools or from schools for chiropractic studies. Chiropractor colleges each have their own set of enrollment prerequisites, and it is best to contact individual natural healing colleges and universities to inquire about admission requirements. The best chiropractic schools will provide plenty of hands-on training with licensed chiropractors in attendance to supervise, mentor, and offer professional advice. ..... Read More

Chiropractic Degrees

Chiropractic degree programs offer an engaging course of study that takes between three to five years to complete, including an internship in a chiropractic clinic. The graduate is awarded the title of Doctor of Chiropractic (DC). Provided the chiropractic training is from an accredited learning institution, DCs are qualified to take the national exam administered by the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners (NBCE). However, before opening a practice the chiropractor must also secure a state license. Check with the individual state(s) in which you intend to practice; each state has its own licensing regulations for chiropractic practitioners, with some requiring additional examinations and/or continuing education for practicing chiropractic doctors.

Chiropractic Education

Enrollment in chiropractic studies generally requires applicants to hold a bachelor's degree in arts or sciences, with a concentration in health care classes such as physiology, chemistry, human biology, etc. The chiropractic course may begin with classes in the history and natural healing philosophy of chiropractic medicine. Advanced chiropractic education continues with in-depth instruction in spinal anatomy, subluxation diagnostics, nutrition, skeletal radiology (x-rays), visceral physiology, and of course the practical application of chiropractic manipulation. Many chiropractic courses will also include instruction in massage therapy and other stress relieving treatments. The typical chiropractic degree program will require approximately 4,200 hours of combined education and training to achieve the desired doctor of chiropractic degree.
